Filter Design and Technical Specifications

  • CW617N-4MS brass housing , ensuring resistance to high pressure and temperature,
  • A mesh filter made of AISI 304 stainless steel with a mesh density of 0.36 mm², which traps solid particles,
  • An N35 neodymium magnet with a strength of 6,000–9,500 Gauss, housed in a brass casing—responsible for capturing magnetite,
  • Operating temperature up to 100°C and operating pressure up to 1.6 MPa (16 bar).

Thanks to its compact design, the filter can be installed even in spaces too small for the FERRO magnetic contaminant separator. Various diameter options (DN 15–50) are available, allowing for adaptation to different types of installations.

Principle of Operation and Efficiency

The FERRO filter combines two filtration mechanisms: mechanical and magnetic. First, a stainless steel mesh traps larger solid particles; then, a neodymium magnet attracts the smallest magnetic fractions—iron oxides, known as magnetite.

This is a byproduct of the corrosion process. Even small amounts of it can cause:

  • blocking of valves and flow meters.
  • reduced efficiency of circulation pumps,
  • uneven heating of radiators,
  • increased energy consumption and system failures.

Angled Filter with Magnet – Installation Instructions

The product can be installed in any position, provided that the flow direction is taken into account and the plug is oriented downward—so that contaminants settle at the bottom. Here are the basic guidelines:

  1. Shut off the system and check the pressure to ensure safety.
  2. Mark the direction of medium flow —it is indicated on the filter body.
  3. Remove the magnet to prevent it from being damaged during installation.
  4. Seal the threads with Teflon tape or hemp.
  5. Tighten using a wrench only on the octagonal connections—do not turn the filter body.
  6. After completing the installation, place the magnet back into the filter and check the system for leaks.

The filter is typically installed on the return line of the system upstream of the heat source (e.g., a boiler or pump), where the risk of equipment damage from sediment is highest.

Cleaning an Angled Filter with a Magnet

To ensure the filter functions effectively, it should be cleaned at least once a year—preferably before the heating season. Here’s how to do it:

  • Close the valves and unscrew the filter cap.
  • Remove the magnetic cartridge and clear out the sediment.
  • Rinse the filter screen under running water.
  • Check the gaskets and the condition of the insert, and replace any parts as needed.
