Water - a life-giving substance, till recently seemed to be a common good from which we can draw on an unrestricted basis. Poland as a European Union member is obliged to meet standards for environmental protection what is related to large expenses for water and sewage investments.

According to the information given in Gazeta Prawna (Gazette of Legal Affairs), we will have to spend tens of billions (PLN) for building and modernization of 25 000 km of sewage systems and 950 sewage treatment plant until 2015. We have to realize, that the regular user will be also charged with mentioned costs. Prices charged for water and sewages may rise up to 60%.

ABC of saving

Where to begin? Preferably from changing habits: brushing your teeth and shaving with tap turned off; replacing frequent splashing in the tub for economical shower, lifting the dish washing under running water for rinsing their with economical jet, regulation of toilet cistern as it can be filled with smaller quantities of water etc. It is also worth to repair dripping faucet and toilet. After a few months, it appears that “we are in the black”.

Family of four, encouraged by such environmental activities may (after only one year) save not less than one thousand for vacation.
